Welcome to Greenside SW18
A community Green kept alive by neighbours and local businesses.
This website was setup to bring our community together to maintain the Green with regular cutting by a landscaping company.
The green space between Groom Crescent, Heathfield Square and Strickland Row isn’t maintained by the council. It’s cared for by us, the people who live around it. Help us keep it cut, tidy, and open for everyone to enjoy.
How we’re doing
This year’s fundraising so far:
£2,760 raised
of £6,985 target
40% of our 2026 target
About the green
The Green is a much loved part of daily life for three streets in SW18. Children play on it after school, dogs are walked across it morning and evening, and neighbours stop to talk on it in a way that’s increasingly rare in London.
The land is owned by the Ministry of Justice and sits beside HMP Wandsworth. The prison permits us to use it but does not maintain it, so a group of neighbours came together to take that on ourselves. We formed a Community Interest Company, and we pay Countrywide Ground Maintenance to cut the grass regularly through the growing season.
It works because people chip in. Residents contribute what they can, and local businesses sponsor us as part of their commitment to the community. Every contribution, large or small, keeps the Green open for the next family that wants to use it.
With thanks to our sponsors
Our Green is kept growing thanks to the local businesses who back us. Their support pays for grass cutting and helps secure the space for years to come.
